When does the Light Root Hub run?

Tuesday 9am - 3pm

Wednesday 9am - 3pm

Thursday 9am - 1pm

 

What happens at drop-off and pick-up?

Please walk your child up to the Hub building at drop-off and pick-up from the same place in the afternoons. If people other than parents (those on your registration form) are going to pick your child up please add their name to the booklet which hangs inside the main building by the door. 

 

What if we are late or my child is ill?

If you are late or your child is ill please try to contact the class group via WhatsApp.

Lateness can cause a disruption to the rhythm of the morning and can impact the whole group. Please try to arrive on time so we can settle the group appropriately. 

 

What should my child wear to the Hub?

Children should wear clothes that are comfortable and appropriate for movement and play. Appropriate wellie boots and water-proof gear is essential for the colder seasons. And sun hats for the summer. All children need indoor shoes such as plimsolls, not slippers.

 

What food do I need to pack?

You will need to provide a snack for morning break and a packed lunch. The emphasis should be on healthy food and please avoid sugary or highly-processed foods.

 

Can my child bring a mobile phone to the Hub?

The Hub is a mobile phone free area so children shouldn’t bring in phones.

 

How do I communicate with a tutor?

As part of joining the Hub you should be added to the main hub chat and your class group on WhatsApp. Please communicate in the group or use the individual tutor numbers (in the groups).

 

How can I get involved as a parent?

As a parent-led initiative, we need as much support from our parent community. We hold meetings on a regular but adhoc basis. There are also work days to help look after the site. The classes celebrate small seasonal festivals where parents are often invited. And we usually have 2 big events each year - our spring/summer and Advent Fairs where it is all hands on deck to make them amazing occasions.
